Easter: A moment of reflection

If you are a YouVersion Bible app user like me and follow the daily scripture, then today’s verse might resonate with you:
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

During my quiet time, I found myself asking God to renew my understanding of this verse. I prayed that the Holy Spirit would bring fresh insight, deepening my appreciation for Jesus’ sacrifice. May we never grow too familiar with God’s love but instead remain hungry for more of Him—Amen.

Another part of today’s devotion invited a prayer for selfless love, and of course, I prayed for that. In response, God showed me a vision—one that brought unexpected revelation. I saw myself with a friend from my past, someone I had always believed I was at peace with. Yet my own actions in that vision revealed otherwise. My hesitation in reaching out wasn’t from unresolved hurt, but from uncertainty about how they would respond.

I told the Lord that I had no means of contacting this person, as they had cut me off. And in that moment, I knew—my role wasn’t to reconnect, but to simply pray for them. So, I did. And I felt peace. Even without reaching out, I could still love selflessly through prayer.

I encourage you, dear reader, to take a moment of reflection—for that is the heart of this season. Be honest with yourself when Abba shines light on your own areas of challenge, and ask Him for the strength to show selfless love to those who need it today.

May you and your loved ones have a Happy Easter.

Shalom 🙏🏼
